Jeff Burton QUOTES:
How did Richmond treat you last season?
“We had great cars last year in Richmond. We battled our teammate Kevin Harvick for the win. During the last 20 laps, we were all over each other and he was leading but I could never find a way around him. We both had awesome cars. In the second race we had an even better car but we had a mechanical problem that set us back. In both of the races last year we put ourselves in a position to win. In the first race we got beat by Kevin Harvick and in the second we didn’t have a chance to see what we could have done but we were pretty excited about our chances.”
Would you challenge a teammate for the win if you are in the same situation as you were with Kevin Harvick last year? “It is going to be a hard race and that is what it should be. That is what racing is about – race each other hard and go out and try to get the win. It is really cool when teammates can race each other because that means that the company is doing really well. Racing my teammate was really cool last year.”
Is it special to win at Richmond since it is your home state?
“Oh yeah, I consider Richmond and Martinsville to be my hometown tracks. I take a lot of pride in being from Virginia, it’s a great state. Richmond is such a great facility. There are always a lot of people at Richmond that have known Ward and me, along with our entire family, for a long time, so I take a lot of pride in running well there.”
